What is the value of therapy intensives?

If you've encountered barriers in traditional therapy or wish to deeply explore issues that may require more than a weekly conversation, our intensive sessions offer an ideal solution. We invest significant effort in preparing you for these sessions and collaboratively define clear objectives to ensure your intensive counseling experience is maximally beneficial.

Although our time together may be short term, we prioritize understanding you as an individual, ensuring that your sessions are what you need. Before embarking on your intensive journey, you'll undergo a comprehensive series of screeners and/or assessments, helping us pinpoint the perfect format to cater to your requirements. These assessments provide valuable insights that would typically require numerous therapy sessions to uncover, enabling us to hit the ground running and work toward your goals.

We equip you with the tools to reimagine the narrative of your life in a way that minimizes distress. Each intensive can be a half day (3 hours) or a full day (spans 7 hours including a break for lunch). Click here for more information.

What to expect during intensive therapy.

During intensive therapy sessions, clients courageously tackle a range of specific issues that may have seemed overwhelming within the confines of weekly therapy. This unique approach acts as a powerful catalyst for addressing challenging topics.  Some examples of what we create intensives for:

Single Event Trauma

Trauma/PTSD/Complex PTSD

Early childhood trauma (neglect, physical, emotion, sexual)

Attachment trauma

Various sexual traumas

Grief (complex, prolonged, unexpected)

Foster/Adoption issues

How long will I need to be in therapy?

This is dependent on several factors and decided on by both you and your therapist so please discuss with them.

What are therapy intensives like?

Our intensives include years of training that is of the highest quality and research backed to provide remarkable results.  This means we have several modalities and interventions available to meet you where you are.

At Canvas, we provide a nourishing environment that includes water, coffee, and/or tea to empower you to focus on self-care during your stay. Please let us know if you have specific preferences.

The beauty of therapy intensives is that it helps heals past you, supports current you, and invests in future you.  To provide more tailored intensives, if you would like, we can collaborate with other providers you may be seeing from your primary therapist to massage therapist to chiropractor, etc.  Please don't hesitate to reach out via email or phone for a personalized discussion about how our intensives might align with what you envision.

Are therapy intensives covered by my insurance/what are the fees?

Canvas Counseling and Wellness PLLC is not in-network with insurance, so your investment in therapy will be an out-of-pocket payment. At your request, we can provide a special receipt called a Superbill which includes important information about the service provided. You can then submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement but there are no guarantees.

Prior to starting sessions, I recommend you talk with your insurance to find out if they reimburse/cover out-of-network services and what service/CPT codes they cover. For more information about fees and insurance, visit our FAQ page. We continue to pursue training to provide high value for your hard-earned money.
