CLIENTS WHO HAVE THE MOST SUCCESS…
Don’t see counseling as a “have to” or just another obligation.
Want to be heard, are willing to learn, and are committed to working together.
Don’t want labels. The word "wellness" is part of the business name because we are complex beings made up of biological or physical, psychological, social, & spiritual aspects (see below).
Anxiety can be a barrier to even starting counseling; let me ease your mind by letting you know a little about what the process will be like with me:
Intake
You will be sent an email with a link or attachment including but not limited to the Informed Consent & the Intake (see FAQ for more details). Usually the history-taking or intake process takes 1-3 sessions.
Client and therapist both get to know each other, building trust as we work on setting your goals. You’ll only share as much or as little as you want, going at the pace you need.
It’s going to be collaborative. We co-create a custom plan for in session and, if you want, for in between sessions. This can help you reach your goals more quickly.
In session
Quick relief is possible. You may have some deeper painful things you want to work through, but only when you’re ready. We help you get ready.
We know it can be intimidating to sit in a counseling session. We’re also going to be real while also being professional. We sometimes share tears and often laughs with our clients.
Healing isn’t a straight line. There may be steps forward and backward, which is normal; we’re human. I work with you to make sure that as you’re going along, you don’t stay stuck. Life’s about progress, not perfection.
